About the Instructor

Nicholas Collins was born and raised in Oakland, CA, where he had the opportunity to attend the Berkeley Children’s Art Studio as a child. This early experience fostered his confidence as an artist and instilled in him a deep respect for the creative process. With parents from England, he spent much of his youth in Sussex, shaping his artistic perspective through diverse cultural influences. He later studied art history, drawing, and sculpture at the University of California, Santa Barbara, before further honing his printmaking skills under master printmakers Kazuko Watanabe and Emmanuel Montoya at the Kala Art Institute in Berkeley, where he completed his residency.

Nicholas specializes in reduction linocut printmaking, producing hand-pressed, limited edition—often one-of-a-kind—prints.

An experienced instructor, Nicholas regularly teaches linocut workshops and a weekly printmaking studio class at the Mendocino Art Center. He also recently completed a two-year teaching residency at Art Explorers in Fort Bragg, CA, where he taught linocut to artists with developmental disabilities.
