Spend a day painting outdoors on the beautiful Stanford University campus, capturing its iconic architecture, lush landscapes, and changing light. This 6-hour plein air oil painting workshop is designed for artists of all levels—whether you're new to painting outdoors or looking to refine your skills in a supportive, inspiring setting.
We’ll begin with a brief demonstration and discussion on setting up for plein air painting, including tips on composition, color mixing, and working efficiently in changing conditions. The majority of the day will be spent painting on location, with one-on-one guidance and feedback provided throughout. Students are encouraged to bring their own plein air setup, including a portable easel and oil painting materials.
By the end of the workshop, you’ll walk away with one or more paintings, a stronger understanding of plein air fundamentals, and a fresh appreciation for painting from direct observation.
Location: Stanford University Campus (exact meeting point to will be sent registrants closer to the date)
Duration: 6 hours, with a short break for lunch (please bring your own)
Open to beginners, intermediate, and advanced painters.
About the Instructor
Driven by the beauty of nature, Greg is an experienced plein air and studio painter, as well as a seasoned educator. Whether painting in California, New York, or abroad; the landscape as a living story of light and color. He believes painting and drawing connects the artist and the viewer to nature as nothing else can.
