09/13 Luminosity and Depth with Acrylic Layering Workshop
Take advantage of the fast-drying nature of acrylic to create translucent and luminous paintings.
Description
Take advantage of the fast-drying nature of acrylic to create translucent and luminous paintings. Combining the transparent nature of watercolor, the depth and texture of oil, the flexible and fast drying time of acrylic, Wayne’s acrylic layering technique combines the best qualities of all three mediums. These techniques are especially effective for watercolorists transitioning to acrylic.
Specifically, you will learn how to create:
• Sequence of colors in transparent layering,
• Color glazes to adjust color hue, saturation, and subtlety,
• A different combination of transparent and opaque layers,
• More vibrant colors using acrylic medium and varnishes,
• A transparent painting with the best painting surfaces specifically for you,
• Intro to transparent layering techniques from famous painters like Maxfield Parrish and Johannes Vermeer,
We’ll create two paintings in the workshop, one landscape, and one still life. On the second day, you are encouraged to bring in one or two acrylic paintings you would like to refine. Wayne will use the strategies and color glazing techniques to help take your painting to the next level.
