3/22 Drawing 101 for Teens (Ages 13–17) Workshop
This engaging three-hour workshop is designed to introduce teens to the foundational skills of drawing in a supportive and encouraging environment.
Description
This engaging three-hour workshop is designed to introduce teens to the foundational skills of drawing in a supportive and encouraging environment. Whether students are brand new to drawing or looking to strengthen their basics, this class focuses on building confidence while developing essential techniques.
Students will learn how to see like an artist—observing proportion, shape, light, and shadow—and translate what they see onto paper. Through guided exercises and step-by-step demonstrations, we’ll explore line quality, value shading, simple perspective, and basic composition. Participants will work from still life references and photo prompts to practice accuracy and creative expression.
By the end of the workshop, students will complete at least one finished drawing and leave with practical tools and techniques they can continue to build on at home. No prior experience is necessary—just curiosity and a willingness to try!
About the Instructor
I love exploring and finding beauty in the people and places around me, and I try to capture my initial sense of wonder in my work. My personal challenge is to paint so much that the oil paint puddles on my palette do not have time to dry over.
I was born and raised in San Jose, California. Currently, I am a student at the Laguna College of Art and Design majoring in fine art with an emphasis on illustration.
Teaching is an exciting opportunity to share my passion for drawing and painting, and I enjoy sharing my process with fellow artists!
