This is a physically satisfying, non-toxic, easy clean-up art form that is ideal for your home studio. Bring images that interest you and whatever materials you have—I will provide linoleum plates, paper, carving tools, and ink.
This medium will take the artist in new exciting directions and offer the opportunity to work in a supportive environment with fellow regional artists in the terrific Pacific Art League studios. I look forward to working with you!
About the Instructor
I was born and raised in Oakland CA where I was fortunate enough to attend the Berkeley Children’s Art Studio as a child which gave me confidence as an artist and respect for the process of creating. My parents were from England and I spent much of my youth over there, mostly in Sussex. I studied art history, drawing, and sculpture/studio at UCSB. I trained under master printmakers Kazuko Wantanabe and Emmanuel Montoya at Kala Art Institute in Berkeley, where I did my residency.
I work primarily in reduction linocut which I hand press in limited editions—mostly one-of-a-kind but I also work in woodblock and intaglio. My work is in private collections in the UK, Germany and across the US.
I teach printmaking, drawing and art history workshops at the Pacific Art League, Mendocino Art Center, and Gualala Arts Center. Much of my work and contact info is on my Instagram: nicholas_collins_printmaker
